Seaplane
Tenders are ordinarily named after bodies of water of the sound
variety. The USS Norton Sound was named after Norton Sound, Alaska,
an inlet some 200 miles long in western Alaska, north latitude 63° to
65°, west longitude 161° to 166°. The City of Nome, Alaska, lies on
the northern shore of the Sound. |
